Main use
1. Application in regular coatings
CMC with hydroxyl macromolecular chain and water hydration, while producing winding, thereby increasing the viscosity of the water phase, in water or organic solvents have good compatibility, and the compatibility of the pigment is also good, and can greatly improve the viscosity and rheology of the coating, in the coating industry is often used as a thickener, dispersant and stabilizer, CMC in the application of water-soluble coatings specific effects are as follows:
1. Better water resistance, good durability at the same time
2. High coating fullness, uniform coating, high gloss
3. As a stabilizer to prevent the coating from separating due to rapid temperature changes;
4. As a protective colloid, it can maintain the stability of the coating system in a wide range of pH value;
5. As a thickener can make the coating uniform, up to the ideal preservation and construction viscosity, to avoid serious stratification during the storage period;
6. Improve the leveling of the coating, improve the anti-splash and sag resistance of the coating, thereby improving the construction performance of the coating;
7. Can make pigments, fillers and other additives evenly dispersed in the paint, so that the paint has excellent pigment adhesion effect.
2. Application in latex coatings
Latex coating is mainly composed of polymer water dispersion and pigment water dispersion. Its viscosity has influence on pigment sedimentation, brushing, roller coating, film fullness, leveling and sagging on the vertical surface of the film. Therefore, it is often necessary to adjust the viscosity or rheological property of latex coating. CMC has the characteristics of good fluidity, low brushing resistance and easy construction in latex coating, used as a stabilizer, thickener and water retention agent for latex coatings:
1. It has excellent thickening effect and high thickening efficiency for latex coatings;
2. Can make the coating with a certain viscosity, in storage without precipitation, but with stability;
3. It can prevent water from entering the porous substrate quickly, so that the water retention requirements can be met when the emulsion content is high;
4. Less restrictions on the coating formulation, less affected by the type of latex, dispersant and surfactant;
5. After the coating is completed, the destruction of hydration between CMC and water is terminated, and the viscosity is restored to prevent sagging.
3. Application in casting coatings
CMC is a polymer compound, which is multi-chain. After water swelling, the straight chain opens, stretches and interacts to form a network colloid, which can interact with sodium bentonite. It can not only effectively improve the suspension capacity of sodium bentonite, but also greatly reduce the volume of precipitation agglomerates and prevent the sinking of refractory powder. Therefore, it is often used to improve the suspension rate of casting coatings and improve the viscosity of the coating.
1. Excellent water soluble viscosity, effectively improve coating viscosity and rheology;
2. Good solubility and dispersibility, so that the solid substance is suspended in the carrier liquid;
3. Promote the suspension of refractory powder to prevent precipitation, layering and excessive penetration of carrier liquid into modeling materials;
4. Improve the coating and covering ability of the coating, and improve the brushing and leveling of the coating;
5. The powder in the coating is bonded to each other after drying, and firmly adheres to the surface of the type and core.
